Symbols and Individuation In Global Politics
The Case of Barrack Obama
This shortened documentary will show excerpts from two documented seminars held on the same day in Zurich and San Francisco, 2010.
Central to the description of a successful leader is knowledge of oneself, with the rewards of individuation providing a leader impetus to pay back and serve their community. The seminars examined a possible role of Jungian analysis in function and direction global politics. Prominent Jungian Analysts such as Murray Stein (Zurich), Bernard Sartorius (Zurich) and Thomas Singer MD (San Francisco) comment on Jung’s years of political involvement and the role and challenges of political leaders.
In the film there is particular focus on the Presidency of Barack Obama, a figure upon whom much hope and projection has been placed. Interaction and correspondences of the modern individual to the larger collective are also addressed, with discussion of such issues as cultural complexes.
